How to enhace your tweets

On Twitter  some subtlety and ability to communicate a short message, is needed. With 140 characters per message and a rapid update of content, we should take everything into account: punctuation marks, understandable messages, add links … and other irrelevant details in advance, can determine the success in this social network.

According to experts in social media like Dan Zarrella o Guy Kawasaki, who made experiments and studies on specific behaviors of Twitter users, we can apply some recommendations to help us make more visible our tweets on Twitter.

About Twitter account:

  • Fully set up your profile on Twitter: an accurate bio, put a link in your profile, upload a picture.
  • Follow to get followers: search for relevant keywords and follow people using them.
  • Don’t follow many more people than are following you.

  • Bit.ly is more retweetable than TinyURL
  • Retweets use longer words

Learning from mistakes

Recently Google has decided to close some of its products to focus more on Google+, which currently has more than 40 million users.

In particular the following products will close: Google Buzz, who brought nothing new, considering that Twitter already exists for the same use, and it is not necessary to have a Google account to use it.

Code Search and Code Search API, created to  search for open source code all over the web. Jaiku, which Google acquired , iGoogle that was the principle of social network and theUniversity Research Program for Google Search which provides API access to our search results for a small number of approved academic researchers, will be closed on January 15, 2012.

In addition, today the site of Google Labs, shut down, as was announced some months ago and will be replaced by Like.com Boutiques.com and Google Product Search.

Changes needed in many cases, perhaps the most crazy is the closure of Buzz, a product that was called a little useless and innovative, from the beginning. Google announces all these decisions in order to focus more on its flagship product, Google + which it lacks mature to exploit its full potential. The best is yet to come.

Therefore … and just in case … I would recommend making a backup of all data and documents stored on Google products. It is possible using Google Takeout, if you do not knew it.
